Origin: Native to South-eastern Canada and most of Eastern USA
Features: Also called a “Stinkpot” as they can release a stinky foul odour to deter predators
Temperature: Heat the water 72-78F with a warmer basking area of 85f
Size: Small species only reaching around 4 inches maximum
Life Span: 25+ years
Herp Habitat: Provide a large water area with slow moving water, plenty of areas to hide away and shelter and good filtration. A basking area may be utilised
Suitability: BEGINNER (compared to other larger growing turtle species)
Diet: Turtle pellets, chopped cockles, bloodworm, fish, mussels, earthworms and crickets
