Reptile Policy

Here at The Japanese Koi Company Reptile Department.

We do everything possible to make sure our animals are cared for and looked after properly.
Exotic animals require a certain level of dedication and specialist knowledge, something we feel we have.
We try to ensure every animal is sold with the correct equipment needed to maintain it in its optimum conditions and health.

Our reptiles and amphibians  are always sold in good health, they will be feeding properly and as the majority of our stock is UK Captive Bred they should be under little stress and should have adjusted to a captive lifestyle easily.
However, on the odd occasion that an animal is sold and deemed ill we would advise you to contact us immediately where we can offer advice or arrange to take the animal back so we can check it over and treat if necessary.

Our Policy is that within the first week of purchase we will take back any ill reptiles and attempt to locate the source of their illness, treating if necessary.
If your animal dies within this first week we can replace the animal or credit you for the value of the animal.
If your animal dies within 14 days after the first week we can credit you for half the price of the animal or you can have a replacement animal at half price.
After this period we can no longer take responsibility for any animals sold, we will however do our very best to help with any problems you may be experiencing such as behavioural or if illness occurs we can offer advice on treatment. (please be aware we are not vets)

If you feel the animal may require veterinary attention please consult us first. We do not pay vet bills.

We DO NOT swap animals if you become bored of your reptile as we feel this encourages the wrong type of pet keeping.

We WILL take back for free any unwanted or neglected animals and try to re-home them so they can once again enjoy a happy and healthy life with the care that they deserve.

Think very carefully before you purchase any animal, if you intend to put a new animal with an existing animal consider their living conditions, can they tolerate living with one another and what sex each animal is.
